Background
IST-OHIO is owned and operated by John Burkhart, former owner and founder of Buckeye
Educational Systems for over 25 years. For the past five years I have been involved with
helping fund President Bush’s High Growth Initiative for Advanced Manufacturing. The
success of these programs was unbelievable and the lessons learned while working in
Washington and traveling to states throughout the US… well priceless. I think the best thing
I realized quickly was that no other state offered anything close to what we can offer
students in Ohio through our Career & Adult Technical Education Programs.
In 2008 I decided to take what I had learned and bring those resources back to Ohio.
Working with Governor’s offices, State Boards of Education, Department of Development
and Business Leaders in ten different states I learned the importance of Certification and
Applied Learning. Integrating the Business request of problem solving, working as a team
and REAL WORLD SKILLS INTO SCHOOLS CURRICULUM along with the request from
both industry and education that academics be part of the real world learning process
helped us understand and design our products for your future and current needs.
Vision
IST-OHIO’s goal is to keep Ohio a leader in education by providing state of the art
equipment and curriculum correlated to National and State Standards along with Business
certifications to meet the needs of both Business and Education. IST-OHIO promises to
provide each end user with high quality products, customer service support as well as in
depth experience in the Education market by helping prepare Ohio’s students and workers
for the high-tech world of tomorrow.
